How long has Aaren taught at OCS? This is my first year at OCS.
Aaren's passion for children/Christian schooling: We desire to please God and to have our children please God. The Bible teaches, “But without faith it is impossible to please him:” Hebrews 11:6 How do they get faith? So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17 Christian schooling provides more opportunities for our children to have the Word of God poured into their hearts and minds by godly men and women during chapels, daily studies--centering each subject around the truth of God’s Word, Scripture memorization and one-on-one discipling to stir up faith in their hearts.
Aaren's testimony: I am incredibly blessed to have been raised in a Bible-believing home; we attended church whenever the doors were open. As a four year old child, I knew that I was a sinner. I understood that “Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:” I Corinthians 15:3b-4 With the faith of a child, I prayed with my mom and asked Jesus to save me. In the following years, as I gained more knowledge and heard more sermons, I struggled with assurance of my salvation, because I did not remember the words that I prayed or the date and time as some preachers would insist was necessary. I would pray often for salvation. However, I came to realize that this was basing my salvation on me--my ability to remember or whether I was sincere enough, or all of the other doubts that Satan tried to use to defeat me. Instead I needed to stand on God’s promise and put my trust in Jesus’ finished work, for He cannot lie. “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13 Share an interesting fact or quirky hobby about yourself.
My kids say that my favourite thing to do is dishes, because what you spend the most time doing must be what you love to do. In reality, I love to find new recipes, and I enjoy using my family and company as guinea pigs to try them out.
