Ozaukee Christian has a commitment to excellence of instructional materials and methods. We are currently working on a long-term curriculum mapping project so that our subject matter is aligned with state and national standards.
Our teachers provide a rich variety of learning experiences so that each child reaches his or her potential in Christ. Our goal is to equip students with the skills necessary to fulfill the call of God on their lives.
Teachers are the “heart” of our school. They are born-again believers who feel called of God to the students at Ozaukee Christian School. Our teachers are degreed, licensed professionals who continue their own learning by attending various classes and seminars.
We participate in the Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Exam. The Stanford Achievement Test is also administered to students. Results continue to indicate that our students perform exceedingly well compared to state and national norms. Parents report that their children are well prepared for high school after graduating from OCS.
Reading is taught using a phonics-based approach. Pizza Hut’s “Book-It” program further encourages reading outside of school.
Students in seventh and eighth grades are given a variety of “real life” experiences. Special units in student finances (checkbook, credit cards, job applications, et cetera) , using material from Crown Financial, and creationism, using materials from Answers in Genesis, further prepare young people for high school…and life.
Music, art, Spanish, physical education and technology classes are all part of the regular curriculum. Private music lessons are also available to students during the school day.
“Knowing God results in every other kind of learning.” (Proverbs 9:10) Putting the things of the Lord first brings everything else into its proper perspective.
