Ozaukee Christian School

Prospective Families

Oholiab Project

Children are created in God’s image. Each one is unique. Each has a special purpose and place in the Kingdom.

There are some children who possess greater mental or creative abilities than others. In any given classroom, it is often these children who learn the least. They enter the class in September with a greater body of knowledge than most of the other children. The material that is new to them is learned the first time through; additional review is not necessary. A vast amount of learning time is simply lost for them.

Our mission statement states “…Ozaukee Christian exists to provide an excellent, Christ-centered education.” We must address the unique needs of these students. Doing another “extra credit” worksheet is not helping them achieve their God-given potential. We must provide the environment and tools necessary for all students’ mental, physical, emotional, social, and spiritual growth.

The very nature of this program lends itself to one that is not rigidly controlled. Specific criteria for “gifted” will not be made at this time. Students will be “part of the program” based on parent or teacher recommendation. Students will be “part of the program” in varying degrees. Some students may participate in one extra ACSI event. Others may meet with the Oholiab Project coordinator three times a week to work on projects or advanced curriculum.

The coordinator will also be available to the classroom teachers as a resource person. He/she may search out new materials for the teacher, surf the web to find advanced material, offer suggestions for inclusion, etc.

These are the activities available to students:

A fee has not yet been established for this program.

The Old Testament describes the men who worked on the Tabernacle. Bezalel and Oholiab were specifically gifted with talents and abilities to accomplish their God-given task. “See, I have chosen Bezalel…and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts.” (Ex. 31:2) We have been given many “Bezalels” here at OCS! We are responsible before the Lord, in partnership with parents and church, to provide that which is necessary for our Bezelels and Oholiabs to become all that He desires them to be.
