Ozaukee Christian School provides rigorous, Christ-centered education with an emphasis on training the whole child. We partner with parents and their churches to raise children who love God with all their heart, soul, and mind.
Through smaller class sizes, an emphasis on communication, and a focus on Christ throughout the school day, OCS provides students with an educational experience that supports their learning and challenges their minds and hearts.
Our classes average 10 students per classroom. Research supports the fact that students benefit from smaller class sizes. Some of these benefits include improved test outcomes, higher school engagement, and increased rate of college attendance. Smaller class sizes allow teachers to interact with each of their students and provide them with individualized instruction that is vital for success.
OCS believes that communication is key to maintaining a strong connection between the three strands of home, school, and church. We also believe that communication is key to academic success. Communication between OCS, students, and parents is facilitated through the following.
Each week, K – 8 teachers give parents a Lesson Plan Summary that helps parents understand what is going on in their child’s life throughout the day and gives parents the opportunity to provide support when needed. It’s also an accountability tool that keeps parents informed on when quizzes and tests are scheduled.
OCS utilizes a web-based system called Sycamore that allows the school to communicate with parents, and for parents to communicate with the school. Sycamore also provides parents with easy access to homework grades and classroom websites.
At OCS, our focus is on Christ. Each day, we turn our attention to Christ through prayer, by studying God’s word in Bible class, and in all the other engagements at school, home, or in our communities. In everything we do, from our business practices to discipline policies in the classroom, we are committed to reflecting and honoring Christ.
Eighth graders participate in a program called “Final Approach” that teaches them the skills they’ll need as they progress in their academic careers and in life outside of OCS. Some of the topics they’ll study include financial stewardship, purity/modesty, the Lordship of Christ, and creationism.
We are a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), which is an organization dedicated to serving Christian schools both nationally and around the world by providing teacher and administrator certification, school accreditation, legal and legislative help, and curriculum publishing. ACSI has more than 23,000 member schools from 100 countries.
We are also a member of the Wisconsin Council of Religious and Independent Schools (WCRIS). WCRIS is a non-profit government relations association that helps us continue to do the work that we do by protecting the right of parents to select the best education for their child as well as protect our right as a Christian school to pursue our unique educational goals. WCRIS believes in educational integrity, equal opportunity for all children, and maintains a commitment to supporting independent schools.
“…what does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways, to love Him, to serve the Lord your God will all your heart and with all your soul, and to observe the Lord’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good.” Deuteronomy 10:12 -13
“And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ–to the glory and praise of God.” Philippians 1:9-11
